Privacy Policy for NavuMilan

Welcome to NavuMilan ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and
ensuring the security of your personal data. This Privacy Policy is drafted in accordance with the
Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) of India, the Information Technology
Act, 2000, and other applicable laws.
This policy explains how we collect, use, process, and protect your information when you use the NavuMilan
application ("App").
2. Information We Collect
To provide a secure and effective matchmaking experience, we collect the following types of data:
A. Information You Provide to Us
- Registration Data: Mobile number (verified via OTP), Full Name, Date of Birth, Gender,
and Profile Photos.
- Sensitive Personal Data: Given the nature of a matrimony platform, you may voluntarily
provide sensitive data including Religion, Caste, Sub-caste (Paraganu, Mosad), Horoscope (Kundali)
details, Income, and Family background.
- Biometric Data: If you enable fingerprint/face login, this biometric data is processed
entirely locally on your device via standard OS APIs and is never transmitted to or
stored on our servers.
B. Information Automatically Collected
- Device & Connection Information: Device model, operating system, unique device
identifiers, and IP address (used for security and fraud prevention).
- Usage Data: Interaction logs, matches, profile views, and session durations.
3. How We Use Your Information
We act as a Data Fiduciary under the DPDP Act. We process your data for the following lawful
purposes:
- Core Service: To create your profile, facilitate matchmaking, and suggest compatible
profiles based on your preferences.
- Security & Fraud Prevention: To verify your identity, detect spam, and prevent
unauthorized account access.
- In-App Features: To provide on-device translation of profile content (powered by Google
ML Kit).
- Communications: To send service-related notifications, OTPs, and match alerts.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers. We share data only in the following circumstances:
- With Other Users (Privacy Lock): Your basic profile is visible to other registered
users. However, highly sensitive details (Full Birthdate, Mobile Number, Income, detailed Family Names,
specific Village/Gaam) are secured behind our Privacy Lock feature and are only
revealed to users with whom you have a confirmed Mutual Connection.
- Service Providers: We engage trusted third-party data processors, including:
- Google Firebase / Google Cloud: For secure database hosting, image storage, and
authentication.
- Razorpay: For processing subscription payments. (We do not store your credit
card/bank details).
- Legal Compliance: We may disclose data if required by Indian law, court orders, or
government agencies for investigative purposes.
5. Data Security Measures
We implement robust technical and organizational measures to safeguard your data:
- Encryption: All data in transit is encrypted using industry-standard SSL/TLS protocols.
- Screenshot Protection: We employ OS-level security (
FLAG_SECURE) to
prevent unauthorized screenshots and screen recordings within the Android app, protecting your photos
and data from being stolen.
- Local Processing: Features like language translation utilize On-Device Machine
Learning, meaning your profile text is not sent to external third-party servers for translation.
6. Your Rights as a Data Principal (DPDP Act 2023)
Under Indian data protection laws, you possess the following rights:
- Right to Information & Access: You can view all your collected personal data within the
"My Profile" section of the App.
- Right to Correction: You can update, correct, or complete your profile information at
any time via the "Edit Profile" screen.
- Right to Erasure (Account Deletion): You can request the permanent deletion of your
account and all associated data through the app settings. Upon deletion, your profile will be
immediately removed from active matchmaking, and data will be purged from our active databases.
- Right to Grievance Redressal: You have the right to register complaints regarding your
data processing.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only as long as you maintain an active account with NavuMilan or as necessary to
fulfill legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
8. Children's Privacy
NavuMilan is strictly restricted to users who are legally competent to marry under Indian law (18 years for
females, 21 years for males). We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of any significant changes via in-app
notifications. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
